Crumlin road gaol

Its ironic that a prison becomes a tourist attraction.  This one is well worth a visit.  I spent about an hour late yesterday afternoon on a tour hearing about all the things you would expect (and a few you wouldn’t) – the republican wing and loyalist wing, those who escaped and came back to do a tour as a tourist, how you were processed when you arrived, the children who were imprisoned in Victorian times, the 14 year old who committed suicide in the building, the tunnel under the Crumlin road connecting to the court house, the artwork on the walls and lastly the 17 people executed by the state and just exactly how & where that was done, step by step.  No sugar coating.
