this celtic cross, is very different to the one in my last post. As you can see from the dates it is a war memorial, in the village of Hillsborough, Co. Down. I went for a walk around the village this morning. The Church of Ireland which is in the centre of the village can just be seen behind the memorial. The church building itself is in a beautiful setting and dates back to the mid 1700s.
on a quiet Sunday morning there was only the occasional car driving through the village. It’s on a hill and is best known for the castle at the top of the hill – the official residence of the Secretary of State and Queen Elizabeth. Someone had parked a white van beside the perimeter railings and my photoshop skills don’t stretch to removing it so I decided to skip out that shot!
